Humanitarian & Compassion

Citizens from countries that are suffering a severe humanitarian crisis, health system breakdown or war, which could cause them serious harm, who have family established in Canada, or children less than 18 years of age, are eligible for this program. Parents of Canadian citizens originating from countries in the above mentioned conditions are also eligible. This is a permanent resident process, if your refugee claim is denied, you must wait at least 12 months to present a H&C claim.

Humanitarian and Compassion grounds apply to people with exceptional cases. The Canadian government will assess the possibilities of you settling in Canada. If you have family ties in Canada, your chances of being accepted will be higher. You need to prove that if you return to your country you are at a high risk of suffering harm. This also applies to families that have children younger than 18 years of age or with serious disabilities.
